About

State Representative Grant Wehrli is a lifelong resident of Naperville with a rich family history there dating back to the 1840s. He is a product of District 203 Schools. After high school, he attended the Florida Institute of Technology and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, where he studied Aviation Management and Aviation Flight. He holds a commercial pilot’s license. Grant and his wife Sharon have two sons.

Prior to his election to the Illinois House of Representatives, Grant served as a Councilman for the City of Naperville from 2005-2014. He also previously served as the Chairman of the Naperville Planning Commission. As a member of the City Council, Grant reduced the City’s reliance on property taxes, passed term limits and eliminated pensions for part-time elected officials in the City. He also championed concepts that led to the implementation of sound financial budgeting practices, limited government, transparency and free enterprise. His efforts played an integral part in the City‘s ability to earn and maintain the highest available bond rating during his tenure on the Council.

Grant was elected to serve as the State Representative of Illinois’ 41st House District in November of 2014. In October of 2018, he was elevated to the role of Assistant Minority Leader, where he serves as part of the nine-member House Republican Leadership Team. In Springfield, he also serves on several influential House Committees.

In addition to his work in the General Assembly, Grant is an active community leader. He is a proud alumni of the National Outdoor Leadership School, a global non-profit that mentors leaders, and he also previously served on the Naperville Development Partnership, the Naperville Riverwalk board, the Naper Settlement Museum board and the DuPage Mayors and Mangers Legislative Committee. He has coached Naperville Park District soccer, Little League, YMCA basketball and St. Raphael youth football.

Outside of his public service work, Grant enjoys backpacking, fly fishing and spending time with his family.
