Representative Wehrli, along with other DuPage Area State Representatives and Senators are joining forces through the entire month of September to help Loaves & Fishes obtain personal care items.

Loaves & Fishes is a non-for-profit food pantry that feeds up to 1,500 DuPage County families per week. Families in need can shop for free in a grocery store-like setting. Loaves & Fishes is experiencing a shortage of personal care items and in response area legislators are opening their offices to collect the needed items.

These items are:
Diapers & Wipes
Laundry Detergent
Toilet paper
Shampoo
Toothpaste
Household Cleaning Products
State Representative Grant Wehrli (R-Naperville) and State Senator Michael Connelly (R-Naperville)  are teaming up to host a free Children’s Safety Expo in Naperville.

DATE:              Saturday, August 25, 2018
TIME:               9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
LOCATION:     Frontier Sports Complex 3380 Cedar Glade Drive, Naperville, IL

Wehrli and Connelly hope parents take advantage of this free and fun event. The expo promises to be fun for kids of all ages, while also providing parents with important information to keep their children safe.

Events taking place for the kids include the Traveling World of Reptiles Show and the “Touch a Truck” exhibit—featuring approximately 40 vehicles, face painting, and much more!

The reptile show begins at 10:30 a.m., and gives kids an up-close, live, and interactive experience with reptiles and amphibians from around the world.

Children participating in the “Touch a Truck” exhibit can get behind the wheel of their favorite vehicle and ask questions to those who operate the equipment.

For parents, public service representatives will be available to answer questions on health, bicycle safety, college savings plans, and more.

Additionally, complimentary refreshments will be provided along with a drawing for free giveaways.

The Illinois Environmental Council (IEC) released its 2018 Environmental Scorecard this week. Representative Grant Wehrli has been honored with a perfect voting record. A total of 61 state
representatives received an award for their voting record during the 2018 legislative session.
 
“Representative Grant Wehrli demonstrated a commitment to environmental issues in Springfield this session,” said IEC Executive Director Jen Walling.
 
 The 2018 Environmental Scorecard included numerous legislative measures.  Specific priorities from the Scorecard include:
● SB2298: Industrial Hemp Act
○ This bill brings new opportunities to farmers as well as benefits to soil by opening new initiatives for sustainable agriculture.
● SB2773: Renewable Energy Financing
○ This measure enhances the property-assessed clean energy (PACE) program by allowing Illinois to help communities access fund for clean energy projects.
● HB4790: Use of Compost
o This legislation increases the use of compost in transportation projects and helps create a market for compost use in Illinois.
 
“Representative Grant Wehrli voted 100% of the time with the environmental community on nine pieces of key legislation,” added Walling.  “The IEC is honored by Representative Wehrli’s dedication to Illinois’ environment and we look forward to working together in the future.”
IEC releases its scorecard in August of each year.
